We're the Thomas Ohana—adventurers, creators, and a family rooted in the spirit of Hawaii. Little Kea was born out of our son Kea's early days in Makiki, Honolulu. Surrounded by the sounds of the city—trucks, buses, engines—his fascination with everything that moves grew, and we created products and stories that celebrate that curiosity. What we make reflects the culture we love and the adventures we have together as a family.
The Little Kea character is modeled after our son; the logo and imagery are based on real reference photos and personal pictures we've taken. We're an AI-first company—our imagery is created with AI, using references from our own life—but the text in every book is written by Kea's mom, so a personal touch runs through everything. At its core, Little Kea is the relationship between technology and our own contributions: every design is rooted in our family's experiences and memories.
Much of the creative work happened with Kea in one arm and the design in the other. We want to share that spirit with families everywhere—and we want Kea, and every young adventurer, to grow up curious about the world.
